How To Beat Stress

...and live in peace no matter what!

This has been one of the busiest summers of life and ministry that I can remember in a long time! And to be honest, I felt a fair degree of both stress and pressure over the past few weeks. The benefit to that is increased reflection on how to live in the peace, joy, and fulfillment of Christ that I know is my portion in him!

One of the things that is vital for us to understand is that stress and pressure are two different things. Pressure comes from circumstances. Stress comes by choice. Pressure is external to us. Stress is an internal reaction. Every one of us goes through difficult and pressure filled situation and circumstances. But stress is something we can choose to feel or not!

Empowered leaders don’t allow external circumstances to interrupt their peace and cause stress. They trust in the Word of God.

Psalm 4:8 - In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Philippians 4:6 - Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Psalm 55:22 - Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

Matthew 6 - 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

These verses encourage me DEEPLY!

Are you suffering from STRESS?

Here are some questions that help me diagnose and deal with stress:

  1. What is my God-given assignment right now?

  2. Am I working on anything outside of my God given assignment?

  3. What are the current pressures I’m experiencing?

  4. Are they because of my God-given assignment or not?

  5. Is there something I need to stop doing?

  6. Is my satisfaction or fulfillment set on anything other than Jesus?

Remember, pressure is OUTSIDE. Stress is INSIDE.

Pressure is out of your control but STRESS is a choice.

Cast your cares on Him and walk in peace.

Hope this encourages you today!

Blessings,

Pastor Jake

Will You Support The Leader Letter?

If you’re reading this you probably know I send a newsletter almost every day (at least 350 per year. And if you didn’t know…I write them myself! It’s the equivalent of writing 10-15 books per year. I get dozens of replies and responses from pastors that share how this daily email encourages them. Right now it goes out to over 33,000 pastors/church-leaders!

But, it’s definitely a time-consuming and challenging task! I spend at least an hour a day on average studying, writing, and managing this newsletter. Over the past few months I’ve considered doing less or stopping the newsletter altogether. Then I get a response from someone and it encourages me to keep going. Here’s where you come in.

I want to focus on writing great content, sharing it with more pastors, and LESS time on creating paid offers and selling. To do that I need your help.

Will you consider supporting the Leader Letter on a monthly or yearly basis?
