Make Ministry Fun

I grew up as a pastors kid.

Otherwise known as a “PK!”

One of the best things about it, was that my parents included me and my siblings in the fun stuff, not just the boring stuff, or the hard stuff!

Thing is, ministry life is tough enough without making it a drag.

I think my siblings and I caught a great heart for the beauty and value of ministry because my parents modeled the joy of the Lord in the day to day.

That's something I'm carrying on with my own kids!

For example, in about five minutes we are going to an arcade to play games for an hour and then get ice cream afterwards.

We've got a guest ministry couple in town and we invited their kids to come with them.

So, that means all the PKs get to go have some fun!

What's this have to do with church growth or leadership?

A lot actually.

It's about culture and values.

Keeping my kid's heart is more important than almost anything to me!

That's why we keep it fun.

Yeah, there will be days that are long and boring.

There will be seemingly endless meetings.

They'll get dragged along to lunches they wish they weren't at.

But they'll experience my wife and I leading in joy...and making minsitry fun whenever possible.

That spirit carries into everything.

Our church is called Joy Church and we want to live up to the name!

Especially with our first congregation...the 3 kiddos.
