No Such Thing As Failure
Ever feel like a failure?
Read on…
I wasn't a Chicago Bulls fan as a kid.
But who didn't love watching MJ play ball?
Arguably the best to ever play the game...
Listen to what he said about failure...and success...
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." - Michael Jordan
Don't you just love that mindset?
That's the mindset of a champion.
That doesn't view failure as final but rather as a healthy part of success.
And absolutely refuses to quit!
I like to say, "There's no such thing as losing. Only winning or learning."
Every failure is a lesson that simply makes it easier to succeed next time.
A few years ago I was fired from my job and had one month to move out of the place we were living.
I was emotionally devastated and felt like a total loser.
Thought I'd let my family, friends, and even the LORD down...
But I remember getting a call from my Dad where he encouraged me and told me to keep going.
My wife later said he was pulling arrows out of me...and that's honestly what it felt like.
Because we were under tremendous attack at the time.
A few months later we planted Joy Church (ironic that great JOY comes from great pain huh?)...
And now it's a thriving local church reaching hundreds of people per week with hope, life, and joy!
Every failure of my life (and there have been many) was a lesson.
And I'm sure there will be more.
But there's no losing.
Only winning or learning.
And it can be the same for you Pastor.
Don't stop taking shots.
Don't stop loving people.
Don't stop believing that God's promises are true.
And most of all...don't give up!
Your church can reach people, make a difference, and grow.
Even if you feel like a failure now...it can be turned into a lesson and lead to success.
